Bad Bad Workout Partner

I've been writing about all the "fun workouts" that Kayla and I have been doing... but what I've been hiding from you all... makes me shake my head in shame. I keep "skipping" workouts so that I can be with my other lover, Sleep. See, I started off so well and then my grandma passed and I pretty much took the entire week off to be with my family. And then this morning, I was supposed to be there at 7... and let's just say I was looking like this:

Until about 10:00. Crap. It's not the working out part that makes me want to cry, it's the getting up early. I know, I know about a million other people get up super early to go to work or work out- but for some reason I seriously cannot drag my butt out of bed.

I would be fine with working out in the afternoon/at night- but then BFF wouldn't be able to be my workout partner. Sad, for sure, but at then at least I wouldn't be skipping or sleeping in. I don't know- I don't want to fall off the fitness bandwagon already or let Kayla down... but something has got to change!

So my question to you:

Suck it up (7:30am workouts) or On My Own (afternoon/night workout)

[P.S. Sorry this is such a whiny post, ha:)]

I think you just have to push yourself for the 7:30! It seems like your workout partner is a great source of motivation for you. If you set your time back, what are the chances you'll actually go? It's a lot easier to talk yourself out of something when it's just you! Right now you feel guilty the days you can't go but some days you do go! that's better than not going at all. Once the weather clears you could try long walks at night. Plus, if you work out in the morning you can feel great ALL DAY!!!

You can dooooooo it!

SUCK IT UP, SISTER!! Speaking as someone who has done it on her own and with a workout partner... having an accountability/workout partner is much more valuable than a little morning sleep. Here's another tip - try to be in bed a little earlier. I know, novel idea. You'll be so glad you got your workout done for the day, you won't have anything else to distract you from doing it, and you're also helping Kayla meet her goals as well. It's a win/win situation - and I AM NOT a morning person. So, my suggestion, try to set your workout time for as late as possible to be able to get it done and be at work on time. No TALKING or GOOFING while you're working out - you should be in and out of the gym WITHIN one hour... no more.

Any more advice? You know where to find me.

Do I need to start making wake-up calls in the mornings??? Ha!

Suck it up!!!! Keep it going. I know personally I have a much harder time sticking to it by myself...but that is comming from someone who is too lazy to work out in the first place :)

What, you don't want to see me a jazzed up in the morning? Is my scary morning hair freaking you out!?! But really..working out in the mornings is so much better. It keeps us more on track with the eating and seriously gives us energy! And it's reallllllly hard to actually go after work. The warm weather is going to help us a lot, I think!

Oops...I meant ALL jazzed up!

Love you!

Hard question! I hate getting up early, but I would hate working out alone more. If it were me I'd probably try to wake up early, just b/c I'm terrified to go to the gym alone. Not sure why, but it's why I haven't been working out there (or anywhere else for that matter... I need to start!!)

Good luck figuring out the work out schedule :-)

Hey sweetie you can try and balance out the workouts more. Do some of them in the morning and some in the evening like on the weekend so you can rest. Really whatever works for you and makes you feel good. When I am feeling run down or sick I take a break. I listen to my body, but when I'm dragging I get in to the gym even for 20 mins and try. Let me know how it goes.

I think...do what works for you. At least you get the job done and same results!!
Not a whiney post..that's what blogging is about!:)

I can't get up in the morning to save my life--but it may be easier to have a work out partner than doing it on your own!

why don't you do a bit of both, the days you are buzzing do it early. The problem is when you go through some tought times your body needs to sleep to cope, the only good thing about pushing to getting up early is that you will feel better long term it helps the sad feelings and having a friend to be there with is a great help, I am totally doing it on my own and that is harder xxx

I try so hard to get up and workout but I can't! So I workout after work and I'm losing. I say do what feels good to you and if you need your sleep you need your sleep!

Umm I'm lazy now but during my intense regular exercise period ( haha ) I usually do it in the afternoon. I cant wake up so early no matter what I do. I decide I wont jeopardize my mood so soon :P

Suck it UP!! It is soo much easier to get through the work out with a supporting friend there to push you!!

Good Luck,

Julie

I wish I could wake up early to exercise! I have to be at work at 8 and there's just no way I could get to the gym before. Ha.

Hi Kyla! Nice to meet you!
I totally understand where you're coming from on the sleep vs. exercise dilemma! It took not only all the will power in myself but also Tyler telling me to suck it up and go run this morning! Hope everything goes well for you!
